Since I’ve been in the Wedding Business the one think that has surprised me is how particular people are about their Cake Toppers! Although when you think about it it makes perfect sense! Your cake topper one of the very subtle ways you can add your personal touch or sense of style to your wedding without conflicting the design. A cake topper gives you a chance to add romance or to show your sense of humour without going overboard!

Another interesting discovery My Dream Wedding has made is that the grooms are more particular about their Cake Toppers than their Brides!! Yes this surprised us too! However, they sometimes require a gentle shove in the right direction. Most of the time they even forget to order the accompanying Bride to go with the mirror image of themselves they have so meticulously selected!! So note to all the grooms out there “Don’t forget the matching Bride for your Wedding Cake Topper” – just like in Real Life!!

Wedding Cake Toppers have become the most searched for wedding item and many couples now opt for the sometimes expensive option of personalising them. However at My Dream Wedding HQ we believe you don’t need to go down the expensive route of personalisation. There are cake toppers available to suit all shapes & sizes, tastes & styles, brides & grooms! We have put together a comprehensive collection of unique Wedding Cake Toppers at .

The most popular Cake Topper at is the:

Soccer Player Groom Wedding Cake Topper. – Frequently purchased by the groom or at the groom’s request and more often than not the matching Exasperated Bride is left in the shop! Who could blame her for being so exasperated!

Comical Couple Wedding Cake Topper – with the Bride having the Upper Hand! Popular among brides this is a great topper if you want to show your guests your sense of humour or just to show them who is boss!

My favourite cake topper at has to be the

True Romance Wedding Cake Topper – the perfect cake topper for the perfect couple. This stylishly dressed couple gaze adoringly at each other. If you want to let your guests know just how completely in love you are then this is the way to go.

If couple figurines are not to your taste then why not go for one of our statement Glazed Heart Cake Toppers.

The My Love Wedding Cake Topper – is contemporary and sleek. If elegance is your theme then this is the way to go. It can also be used as a centerpiece!

If you still need a little personalisation or you feel there are some important family members that simply must be part of your cake topper then why not get crafty! My beloved Golden Retriever Shadow had to be on my cake topper so I used a miniature Golden Retriever Figurine found in an old cornflakes box and put him where he belonged. Pride of place on top of the cake with his faithful servants the Bride & Groom!

So if you are looking to make your mark on your wedding then do it through your cake topper. The above suggestions are just a small selection of cake toppers available. To see our full selection visit .

Say goodbye to the the white, pastel greens and lilacs of recent years. 2010 wedding trends are centered around bold and bright hues and few pastel color schemes. From vibrant red wedding gowns to bold turquoise  accents, here are some of the top colour trends for the 2010 wedding:

For dresses, black is still a leading trend for the fashion-forward bride that wants to make a bold statement for the Big Day. This colour scheme was popular on the Paris fashion runways in 2008 and has remained in the forefront of wedding dress trends in subsequent years. Black dresses embellished with lace and pearls are an attractive choice for the fashionable bride, but you can also consider black piping or embroidery over the classic white dress for variation.

Red wedding gowns are also a top trend for 2010 weddings, especially for the Spring and Fall months. Look for bright red gowns embellished with large satin sashes and bows, or red gowns with black piping and detailing for a fresh new look.

Bridesmaid dresses get a pop of color for 2010 weddings in pink, bright orange or turquoise shades. The bride looking for a fun and playful addition to the wedding can wear a simple cream colored gown with a colorful sash that matches the bridesmaid dresses. Look for dresses embellished with large petals and over sized bows for a stylish look.

Bright yellow and peach tones are also some of the top colour trends for the 2010 wedding season, especially for weddings taking place in the spring and summer. Avoid pastels and go for the bold and bright color palettes in these colour families for a fashionable look.

More and more people are choosing to name their tables rather than number them. It can make it easier to bring in a theme to your reception room and it also means the guests at the back don’t feel so bad! However the name game can be a tricky one, you need something that will run through the room and you need enough names for all your tables. Many couples choose something that is special to them like cities they have visited etc. The possibilities are endless but has come up with some suggestions to start you off.

Wedding Superstitions – If you want some extra luck on your wedding day, here are a few to start you off:

  • Something Old
  • Something New
  • Something Borrowed
  • Something Blue
  • A Silver Sixpence in her Shoe
  • Married in White you have chosen Right
  • The Wedding Kiss: Some wedding customs date back to Roman times. The kiss was to seal the marriage legally between the couple and must be witnessed by another person.

Table Jewels – Each table could be represented by a gem or jewel and have it’s own colour scheme.

  • Emerald
  • Ruby
  • Sapphire
  • Opal
  • Topaz
  • Garnet
  • Jade
  • Amethyst
  • Diamond – for the top table!

Christmas Themes

  • The Reindeers

The possibilities are endless so get your thinking caps on and get creative. Table names are a great way to put your mark on your wedding.
